Port Blair, Nov 20: Competition among private busses for collecting maximum number of passengers has taken a dangerous shape in South Andaman area. Situation has taken such an ugly shape that in last one month atleast in two different incidents passengers have suffered serious injuries.
The mad rush to collect maximum passengers and earn maximum profit has starting taking a toll on common man.
Nearly two weeks back two private buses were competing for passengers at Wandoor route, suddenly one of the busses applied brakes, which bounced passengers towards front dangerously. According to eye witnesses one passengers suffered serious injuries on his forehead and he was immediately rushed to nearby hospital, where he got nearly seven stitches.
The matter did not end here nearly three days back again in similar type of incident one passengers got his teeth broken.
“Two private buses, namely Raja and Subhasini are causing maximum problem for public in our route. Drivers of these Buses drive recklessly and often stop the bus anywhere they want to fight with the driver and cleaners of other bus,” said an angry passenger who does not want his name to be quoted.
“We need police guard atleast for few months in every private buses plying in ATR or Wandoor route. There should also be surprise inspection in every private bus which takes excess number of passengers all the time,” said a resident of Dhani Khari.
Sadly even after three attempts Andaman Sheekha reporter could not find any officer in Transport Department to comment on this issue.
