Port Blair, Feb 24: The 58th Senior National Chess Championship 2022 will begin on 25th February 2022 at Ganges Club, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The event is organised by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
It will be the first over-the-board Chess Event at the National level after the Covid-19 Pandemic. More than 180 players across India will participate in this prestigious event. Three players from Andaman & Nicobar Islands are taking part viz Satish P.S, Comdt. A.K.S Srimanaryana and K. Sita Ram.
The Championship will be held for 07 days from 25.02.2022 to 03.03.2022 and a total of 11 rounds will be played in Classical Mode with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per move from move no. 1.
The total prize money of the Championship is Rs. 30 Lakhs which will be awarded among the top ten players.
