Port Blair, Feb 09: Resentment is brewing once again among Campbell Bay farmers as their long-pending demands for procurement of Copra at Minimum Support Price has not yet been fulfilled.
As per details, nearly two months back the farmers of Great Nicobar had organised protests for several days, demanding procurement of Copra at Minimum Support Price. Later the protest was called off after the farmers got assurances from the authority concerned.
The General Secretary of Great Nicobar Farmer Association today submitted an intimation letter for organizing indefinite Hunger Strike at Campbell Bay to the Assistant Commissioner of Campbell Bay, it is learnt.
