Port Blair, Nov 19: As part of the on going, “Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder Prevention Day” The Directorate of Health services has organized a Awareness Programme on “National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme” at Community Hall Meetha Khari, Community Hall Tushnabad and Balwadi Centre Ranchi Tikrey, School Line On 14/11/2012, 16.11.2012 and 19.11.2012 respectively at 10.30 am to create awareness among genera] public about the importance of consumption of Iodine in day to day life. The Participants were including Villagers, PRI members, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs , Manila Mandal and medical staffs attended the programme.
On the occasion, IEC Officials from the State Health Education Bureau, Directorate of Health Services delivered talks and highlights on importance of Consumption of Iodized salt to prevent and control the Iodine deficiency disorders.
Besides, Iodine deficiency disorders control, talks on Health <& Nutrition, Child health care, Breast cancer, Importance of Breast feeding, Personal hygiene and environmental sanitation also been given by the Health Team. The participants were given handbills on Iodine Deficiency Disorders.
A documentary film on Alcoholism ( Nayaa Jeevan) in Hindi, ill effects of tobacco consumption and Personal Hygiene and Sanitation also screened by the health team to create awareness about the ill effects of Alcoholism and tobacco.
In the programme at Ranchi Tikrey School Line, Smti Sumari Devi , President of Mahila Mandal ,Ranchi Colony School Line took keen interest fororganizing the programme. In her address she appealed the gathering to come forward and give wide publicity among the community on the importance ofconsumption of Iodine in day to day life and the ill effects of consumption of tobacco and tobacco products.
