Port Blair, Feb. 01: An Order of Union Home Secretary was issued on 27th December, 2021 to ensure compliance to the normative framework for taking evidence based COVID-19 Containment Measures at District/Local Level, as conveyed by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) vide D.O. letter dated 21st December, 2021 which was further extended for a period upto 28th February, 2022 vide order number dated 27th January, 2022. In exercise of the powers conferred under section 10(2)(1) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Union Home Secretary and Chairman, National Executive Committee (NEC) directs vide order of Ministry of Home Affairs, dated 27th January, 2022 to consider implementation of the normative framework, as conveyed vide advisory of MoHFW’s D.O. Letter dated 21st December, 2021 to take necessary measures, under the relevant provisions of the DM Act, 2005.
Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 24 (1) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration in the capacity as Chairperson, Union Territory Disaster Management Executive Committee, for the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has ordered to ensure compliance of Containment Measures for COVID-19 as well as increase detection of the Variant of Concern (VoC), ‘Omicron’, in different parts of the country as per the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) dated 21st December, 2021 for ensuring strict compliance prescribing a normative framework for taking evidence based containment measures at district/local level for the whole of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and shall remain in force up to 28th February,2022. The Deputy Commissioners and Departments concerned may issue necessary Standard Operating Procedures to implement the orders.
