Port Blair, Jan 11: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has revised Minimum wages across all schedules of employment with effect from Jan 1, 2022. As per the revision, unskilled employees will be paid Rs 507/- per day, Semi-Skilled/Unskilled supervisory-564/-, Skilled/Clerical-Rs 649/- and Highly Skilled- Rs 707/- per day.
All private establishment as well as government departments i.e principal employer outsourcing manpower/security have been directed to ensure that workers are paid minimum wages. Workers and Unions can file complaints in writing relating to denial of minimum wages to the Labour Commissioner for initiating penal action against violators as per section 22 of the Minimum Wages Act.
