Port Blair, Jan 09: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder has urged the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to arrange transportation services for inter-island peoples prior to implementation of lockdown plans, if any. In a letter, Mr. Halder stated that the recent curbs initiated by A&N Administration to combat Corona virus is indicating towards a complete or partial lockdown in near future as happened during 1st wave and 2nd wave.
He stated that during previous lockdowns, hundreds of inter-island people especially labourers were left stranded at different islands and left to fend for themselves owing to non-availability of transportation services. If the Administration has plans to impose lockdown then a standard protocol in advance for receiving and sending such people should be formulated, he said requesting the Lt. Governor to direct administration for making necessary transportation arrangements at least 3 days prior to lockdown, if imposed, so that the inter-islander peoples shall proceed to their respective destination without any trouble.
