Port Blair, Dec 23: As a part of the ongoing nationwide ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan’, Signature Campaign was started by cadets of Army and Naval NCC units of the islands under the aegis of Col A Vivekananda, Commanding Officer 1 (AN) INDEP INF Coy NCC and Lt Cdr Ankit Pant, Commanding Officer 1 (AN) NU NCC. At the outset, Dr Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Secretary Education, Andaman and Nicobar Islands inaugurated the campaign. Also Shri Kamlesh Kumar, Director Education and Shri T. Tirumugam , Deputy Secretary Finance participated in the event. The campaign aims at creating awareness amongst the local population to keep the beaches free from plastics and non degradable wastes. As a part of the campaign, various events will be conducted by the NCC units in the subsequent days which include coastal cleanship drives, poster making competition and awareness campaigns.
