I express my warm greetings to all the Islanders on the occasion of “National Consumer Day” on 24th December, 2021. It gives me immense pleasure to know that the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is celebrating “National Consumer Day” on 24th December, 2021 in these Islands along with rest of the country on the theme “Consumer- Know Your Rights”.
The consumers are pillars of the economic development of the nation as the entire economy revolves around them. In the contemporary global era of 21st Century, sensitizing the consumers about their rights assumes all the more importance to protect them from the forces of mindless profiteering and unethical trade practices. With an exalted spirit of ensuring doorstep delivery of services, this UT of A&N Administration has implemented e-daakhil to enable consumers to file their grievances online.
Celebration of this day marks the utmost importance accorded to sensitize people about their consumer rights as enshrined under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
I call upon the people of these Islands to be aware of their rights and participate in the celebrations in solidarity with consumer movement. This will be a significant step towards becoming the responsible citizen of our great nation.
I wish a grand success to this endeavor.
