Port Blair, Dec 21: A&NP today initiated an inquiry on the issue of physical assault on Journalists by an IRBn Head Constable, A&N Police on Monday.
“HC K Manikanandan of IR Battalion is being placed under suspension. Legal action is being initiated on complaint of J Boby,” a message from official twitter handle of Director General of Police, A & N Islands mentioned today. However no FIR has been registered yet against the accused IRBn Jawan, it is learnt.
The Daily Newspaper Association (proposed) has already strongly condemned attack on media personnel and camera crew of News Apptak at Port Blair by IRBn Jawans, A&N Police.
DNA has demanded stringent disciplinary action against the said IRBn Jawan, who has attacked and physically assaulted media persons today.
