Port Blair, Dec 08: The three-days training programme on Mass Production of Bio-Fertilizer organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CIARI, Port Blair at Tushnabad Panchayat community hall from 3-6th Dec.2021. A total of 32 farm wome were participated from different villages of Tushnabad Panchayt. Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Head enlightened the scope and importance of bio-fertilizers in agriculture. In his speech, he briefed the journey of mass production of inoculants and various bio inoculants are commercially produced and utilized for nutrient mobilization and plant protection which play a key role in crop productivity Dr N.Bommayasamy, course facilitator narrated the media used for mass production of bio-fertilizers, isolation of nitrogen fixing bacteria and phosphorus solubilising bacteria and preparation of carrier based formulation for commercialization of bio-fertilizers. Guidelines on buying, storage of bio-fertilizers, it cautions and limitations and demonstrate on application of bio-fertilizers , seeds /seedlings treatment and soil application of bio-fertilizers, enrichment of organic manures with bio-fertilizers and precautions for efficient use of bio-fertilizers. Dr B.K.Nanda elaborated the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) specification for assessing quality of bio-fertilizers and BIS certification of bio-inoculants. Dr.Pooja Kapoor, discussed ways of income generation through bio fertilizers production and commercialization. Dr. Zacharia George, also demonstrate on azolla production and its utilization as supplementary feed for cattle. Smti. Sarita progressive farm women proposed the vote of thanks.
