Port Blair, Dec 07: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 8 to Dec 12. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light rainfall in the next five days in Andaman and in Nicobar Islands. The maximum temperature will be 29.1 to 31.8 oC with minimum temperature of 23.3 to 25.2 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 68 to 80 % and 63 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 18.8 to 26.9 kmph is expected mostly from North Easterly direction. In South Andaman (Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj) , farmers have been advised to prepare field for cultivation of radish bhaji by thoroughly ploughing the field 4-6 times and keep the soil loose for proper growth and developments of root, dip seedling of chilly in 1 % Trichoderma solution for one hour before transplanting, clear all the channels and improve drainage in vegetable field. Apply Pseudomonas in the soil @ 400 g/acre, post rainfall/cyclonic period, do netting in the fish ponds and check for removing predatory fishes/frogs in nursery and stocking ponds and deworming of all goats as post monsoon may predispose to worm load.
