Port Blair, Nov 26: The Andaman Law College celebrated Constitution Day on Friday. Mr Ram Niwas Sharma, Secretary (Law & Jail), A&N Administration and Vice-Chairman, ANILES graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr Prateek Raj Yadav, Director (Social Welfare), A&N Administration was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In his address, the chief guest emphasized that the Constitution of India serves as a beacon of hope for the citizens and it is a guiding light for all. He also called upon the students to take up the noble mission of protecting, preserving and defending the Constitution of India in its true letter and spirit. The Chief Guest also administered the Constitution day pledge by the reading the preamble and the fundamental duties of the Constitution of India.
The guest of honour highlighted that the citizens should draw inspiration from the Indian Constitution which has evolved and progressed for the better with time. The guests also distributed prizes to the winners of Intra-College Quiz and Drawing competition held on the eve of Constitution Day. Cultural programmes including patriotic song, dance and an educational skit was performed by Andaman Law College students on the occasion. Mr Rizwanullah, Deputy Secretary (Law & Jail) and Dr. Jayakumar, Principal, ANCOL were also present at the occasion.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. C. Sathish, Principal (i/c), Andaman Law College said the Constitution bestows greater amount of power to the people of this nation. He said the soul of the constitution lies in the preamble while the part of the constitution lies in the Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles of State Policies.
The programme was hosted by Ms. Divya Sharma, Assistant Professor, Andaman Law College and Mr. Prashant Bhadu, Assistant Professor, Andaman Law College delivered the formal vote of thanks.
