Port Blair, Nov 26: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Nov 27 to Dec 1. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to heavy rainfall in the next five days in Andaman and in Nicobar Islands. The maximum temperature will be 29.1 to 31.5 oC with minimum temperature of 23.5 to 24.5 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 80 % and 66 to 76 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 11.0 to 25.4 kmph is expected mostly from South Easterly direction. In South Andaman (Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj), farmers have been advised to harvest the matured medium duration rice to avoid lodging due to rain and keep in safe place, raise nursery of tomato @ 500 g/ha of seeds in pro tray or in raised field with good drainage facility, make ridges in broad bed and furrow system for sowing of okra and treat the seed with Trichoderma viride @ 4 g/kg of seed, place net around the pond and keep open the bunds to remove excess water as heavy rainfall is expected after 2-3 day and give “super cox” medicine in water to poultry (vanaraja) birds if coccidiosis symptom is observed.
