Port Blair, Nov 18: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Nov 19 to Nov 23. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall om the next five days in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The maximum temperature will be 28.6 to 31.5 oC with minimum temperature of 23.2 to 24.4 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 79 % and 71 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3.0 to 16.3 kmph is expected mostly from South Easterly direction. In South Andaman (Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj), farmers have been advised to dry the harvested rice as the weather is conducive and maintain safe moisture level of 8 % after threshing, do weeding in vegetable and observe for powdery mildew in Bhendi or cowpea, prepare raised bed in home garden and sow 3-4 seed of cucurbit and 2-3 seeds of beans per pit, do manuring of soil around the black pepper by applying compost @ 3-5 kg/ vines and to avoid diseases in pig clean the shed with reliable disinfectant solution by complete removal of manure.
