Port Blair, Nov 18: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) coordinated the Voluntary Blood Donation camp which was organized by, “Andaman Mahila Mandal, Port Blair” at Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, on 18th November 2021 on the occasion of “International Men’s Day” A total of 14 units of blood were donated by voluntarily donors.
The camp was organized under the leadership of Dr M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands. The Blood Donation was facilitated by Dr. Ganesh Samadder, CMO (NFSG) Blood Bank i/c, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation. Blood donation is a voluntary procedure that can help to saves life’s of others.
Smti, Sarasamma Prabhakaran, Secretary, “Andaman Mahila Mandal,” Port Blair, organized the camp and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully. The technical team from Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility. Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
