Port Blair, Nov 02: Bringing big relief for villagers of Car Nicobar, the Andaman PWD has recently cleaned the overhead water tank of Perka Village, Car Nicobar and removed lime formation.
According to reports the overhead tank was not cleaned since last many years, which resulted in high level of TDS(Total Dissolved Solids) due to which there were reports of scale formation inside pipelines, which ultimately resulted in reduced diameter or blockage of pipes.
Therefore regular water supply was frequently interrupted and in many cases, water pressure was reduced. According to reports the water was also reportedly contaminated. To solve this serious issue District Administration of Car Nicobar installed an RO plant in the Perka pump house, from where local villagers used to collect water for drinking purposes.
Taking a commendable step, Mr. S. Radha Krishnan, JE HQ-2 APWD, and EE of the APWD Car Nicobar requested the District Administration for cleaning of the overhead water tank and pipeline for which District Administration gave permission.
The Cleaning was done on 29 Oct 2021 morning by APWD staff and the work was completed on the same day.
Local people of Headquarters and Perka Village and Tamaloo village appreciate the JE and EE for their efforts to clean the water pipe line.
