Port Blair, Oct 21: The Ex-General Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, Mr. Sanjay Chowdhury has urged the Home Minister to take an appropriate decision regarding the GO-GO Bus recently launched for the comfort of tourists in A&N Islands.
In his letter addressed to Mr. Amit Shah, the Minister of Home and Cooperation, Mr. Chowdhury said that there are hundreds of youths, who are running tourist vehicles and are facing hardship in paying EMIs/ interests, particularly during this pandemic.
“I do not know if anyone among the officials or from your party has shared with you the fact that this facility is going to take away a major part of the income of those youths, who operate their transport. Moreover, the inflow of tourists is not unlimited to these Islands but it is directly linked with the number of flights operated and the fare they charge at different times”, the Ex-General Secretary added.
Mr. Sanjay Chowdhury further suggested that these buses can be rather used for the Govt officials coming to different offices from different points and also these buses can be used to transport poor students to their respective schools. “This step of the government is against the basic principle of ATMANIRBHAR,” he added.
