Port Blair, Sept 16: According to the prevailing belief in Hindu religion, the mortal remains of the departed soul is considered very holy and sacred.
Before Ex-Pradhan Mannarghat Mr. Bashir’s tenure, the mortal remains of the late soul, had to be cremated by laying the remains of the deceased, on the ground.
Keeping the sanctity of the mortal remains in forefront, Mr. Bashir constructed an excellent Concrete platform, which is now being used for the last rites.
He also arranged the construction of a well laid motorable CC road to reach the place of cremation. In addition, he also built a community toilet in the temple premises which is greatly helping last rites participants.
