Port Blair, Sept 12: On September 05, Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with the entire nation celebrated Teachers’ Day but many of us have no idea that a group of teachers, working as Assistant Professors in ANCOL are struggling to run their family as they have not received their salary since last nearly six months.
This is not the first time when these teachers got salary after delay of several months as earlier also this matter got wide media coverage in Andaman.
Because of such huge delay in release of Salary, these Assistant Professors are now facing hardship in running their family.
These Assistant Professors have to pay their monthly room rents, EMIs and support their family and as they are not receiving their monthly salary they are forced to borrow money from the market, which is further pushing them towards more problems.
These Assistant Professors are under tremendous mental and psychological stress because of the financial trouble they are facing and they are now unable to support their family.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted college authorities, one senior officer who does not want his name to be quoted, expressed hope that the concerned file will be cleared soon.
Insiders told Andaman Sheekha that until and unless permanent posts are created for Assistant Professors in ANCOL this problem might continue in future too as the procedure of extension of the contract and release of salary, often becomes too complicated in files.
Hopeful the Administration will take early steps to clear the file and release salary for these Assistant Professors and for now a SOP will be made by Administration so that next time there is no such delay in extension of job and release of salary. After all if these Assistant Professors work under mental stress, how they will teach college students properly.
