Port Blair, Aug 27: The NHIDCL is working day and night to complete the Humphrey Strait Bridge and make the bridge ready for inauguration but rough weather is making things difficult for workers.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the DGM of NHIDCL, Mr. Sunil Kumar today said that the bridge will hopefully be inaugurated on 15 September 2021 and hence works are on full swing.
As per details due to heavy rain workers are facing huge difficulties in completing the works that is why even senior staffs of NHIDCL are reaching the site at Kadamtala from Mayabunder to make sure the works are completed on time. However, it is still not clear who will inaugurate the bridge.
Other than NHIDCL, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration deserve huge appreciation for keeping a constant eye on the project and making sure that the works are not hampered even during the later part of COVID-19 lockdowns.
The Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Jitendra Narain and the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan reviewed the progress of the work on equal intervals and that is why even after the set back of COVID-19 the bridge is almost ready now. Once inaugurated the Bridge will not only shorten the journey time from Port Blair to Diglipur by 45 minutes to one hour but also will bring big fortune for Baratang, Kadamtala, Rangat and nearby regions.
