Port Blair, Aug 23: The Director IP&T, Mr. Kamlesh Kumar, DANICS today said that altogether four flights with 668 passengers arrived today at Port Blair Airport and all passengers have undergone RT-PCR test, the results for today’s RT-PCR are awaited.
While addressing the COVID-19 media briefing today at IP&T Conference hall he pointed out that of the passengers who arrived yesterday (Sunday), a total 02 passengers were found COVID-19 positive at the RT-PCR test.
The Director further informed that 332 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj in which all persons were tested COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and passengers of MV Chouldari were also tested today which was returning from Port Blair to Shaheed Dweep, altogether 229 people were tested in which all were found COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
The Director IP&T further pointed out that at Mohanpura bus stand, 180 people were tested in which all were found COVID-19 negative during RAT, and helipad altogether 07 people were tested in which all were found COVID-19 negative during.
“At Phoenix Bay jetty, 109 passengers travelling to Shaheed Dweep were tested in which all were found Covid-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT),” he said.
“Altogether ten active cases are there in Andaman and Nicobar Islands”, Director Education added (the update was till late afternoon hours).
“Today altogether 435 beneficiaries got vaccinated by 04:00 PM in which 400 were under the 18-44 age groups who got their first dose of vaccine, ” he added.
