Port Blair, Aug 18: The Hostel at Shoal Bay 12 was shut down because of lockdowns and now when schools are reopened many students from remote areas like Shoal Bay 19, are forced to walk for nearly 14 (7 KM X 2) per day to reach Shoal Bay 15 or Mannar Ghat schools.
When this matter was communicated to the Secretary of RD and Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, he immediately ordered reopening of the Hostel at Shoal Bay 12 area.
On this the villagers of Mannar Ghat and Mr. O. Bashir, Ex Pradhan, of the village have expressed gratitude towards the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman & Secretary (RD) Mr. Suneel Anchipaka and Director (RD) for reopening of the Hostel.
It is learnt that following the order from Secretary RD, necessary arrangements are now being made at the Hostel, so that students can live there for their studies. This will be very helpful for all students of remote areas like Shoal Bay 19, especially girl students.
