Port Blair, Aug 09: Andaman and Nicobar Artisan’s Federation organized an event to raise their Problems faced by them in the Conference Hall of MSME office Industrial Estate, Dollygunj. Mr. Vishal Jolly Former State President, BJP- A& N islands & Member Home Ministry Advisory Committee, GoI was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr. L Moorthy National Council Member, Smti Sheela Singh State Vice President BJP, Mr. B Eswar Rao Vice President BJP, Mr. K Ramdas State General Secretary BJP SmtiSunita Sharma State Secretary BJP along with Mr. Chandra Mouli Assistant Director & Mr. Yogesh Assistant Director, MSME were graced the occasion.
Artisan’s thanked Mr. Vishal Jolly for standing with them in the case of Granting 1 year Extension for opening of Sagarika Emporium, Providing Ration kit in COVID, Opening of Tourism and further Artisan’s explained the problems faced by them in the making handicrafts by Cane & bamboo, wooden Handicrafts coconut, jute, Sea shells etc.Artisans also showed there disagreement with Notification of A&N Administration about Sagarika Emporium.
Mr. Jolly after patiently hearing the issues said that he will take up the following matters positively.
1) Help in marketing of handicrafts by taking forward the federation and helping them build an emporium with Govt. Grants under MSME schemes of Govt. of India.
2)Speak with administration regarding the Notification of Sagarika Emporium and will try to implement all the necessary changes.
3) Try to release the banned sea shell for only local Artisan’s and will help to build a brand of Andamans.
4)Simplifying the laws of A&N Administration for people,so that our people can make and sell their handicrafts easily.
5) Speak with A&N Admin and make Padauk Available for the artisans in first priority.
6)Trying to increase the flights to our islands so that more tourists can visit.
7) Will speak to officials and help artisans to get more bamboo available in every 3 months in place of present method of getting the materials in every 6 months. And many other issues were discussed.
Vishal Jolly has assured to take up all the issue with concerned Ministry and A&N Administration so that Artisan’s of our islands are provided better opportunity to take the dying art form of our Islands forward.
Earlier Mr. Abhijit Secretary, ANAF welcomed the gathering and briefed about the objectives of the federation.
