Port Blair, Aug 09: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has prominently highlighted the problems, being faced by Islanders at Andaman Bhawan of Visakhapatnam, infront of the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration and requested his intervention so that the public may have a hassle-free stay in the Bhawan.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament pointed out that the transit passengers are facing difficulties in getting safe drinking water at Andaman Bhawan of Visakhapatnam in absence of RO Plant, as it is available at other Bhawans viz Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
The Member of Parliament also highlighted other problems like the absence of a compound wall around the building and insufficient dormitory hall for ladies and gents.
The MP proposed separate dormitory hall for ladies, constructed over the available space with provision of AC and cupboards to keep their belongings safe in both the dormitories for ladies and gents.
He also suggested the construction of a Guard Room and the provision of complaint/suggestion box.
