Port Blair, July 24: The Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) has called upon the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration Mr. Jitendra Narain for an early completion of recruitment process for the vacant posts of Pharmacists under A & N Administration.
In a letter marked to the Chief Secretary of A &N Administration, the National President, IPA, Mr. Abhay Kumar said there has been no recruitment for the post of Pharmacist since 2010 under health department.
In the year 2018, vacancy for 28 posts of Pharmacist under DHS was called for, but even after the lapse of three years the recruitment procedure remains incomplete. Many posts like Chief Pharmacist, Drugs Inspector and B.Pharm tutor are also not filled and are being looked after.
Mr. Kumar further apprised that Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) was established in the islands in 2015 and all essential posts under it were recruited but not a single Pharmacist was recruited under ANIIMS.
“Government of India’s ambitious project of Jan Aushadhi Kendra has been implemented but again not a single Pharmacist was recruited and is managed by the depleted strength of DHS Pharmacist,” he added.
The Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) requested the Chief Secretary to Immediately complete the recruitment procedure of Pharmacist under DHS and fill up all the other vacant posts, where Pharmacists are eligible; Fill up all the posts of Pharmacist under ANIIMS.
He demanded fresh Recruitment of Pharmacist under Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which is supposed to be covered in entire stretch of the islands and creation of new posts of Pharmacist, as many new PHC have come up and many health centre have been upgraded but not as single post of Pharmacist have been created since 2001.
The IPA further demanded posting of Pharmacist in every Sub – Health Centre as previously been practiced under DHS and creation of promotional avenues for the Pharmacist with initial grade pay of 4200.
