Port Blair, May 24: Mr. Vishal Jolly, Core‐Committee Member & Former State President, BJP‐A & N Islands and Member, Home Ministry Advisory Committee written a letter to the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands regarding scheduling a cargo ships for transportation of Farm produce from Little Andaman.
In his letter he pointed out that farmers and plantation owners of Little Andaman are facing huge difficulty and financial losses due to non-availability of cargo ships between islands and mainland for a long time.
“Huge quantities of farm produce such as Coconut, Copra, Areca nut etc are waiting to be lifted from the islands, but due to non-availability of cargo ship for several months, the farm produce is accumulating in the islands for some months. Many farmers also reported incurring huge loss due to their farm produce getting wasted since there is no ship available to transport the harvested produce to the market out of the Islands” Mr. Jolly added in his letter.
