Port Blair, May 23: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letters the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands requesting him to provide boats and ships for the stranded residents of Shaheed Dweep and Southern Group of Islands at Port Blair.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi and the Chief Secretary also spoke on the phone in this regard and the Chief Secretary informed the BJP President that the Tribal Council of Car Nicobar has requested the A & N Administration not to allow any ship to their Island considering the large number of COVID-19 cases at Port Blair.
Further the Chief Secretary also informed that the weather is not favourable currently for sailing of ships and that after the weather improves ship will be arranged for the residents of Hut Bay to travel back to their homes.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi requested the Chief Secretary to atleast announce the schedule of the ship so that people can plan their journey to their homes. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi thanked the Chief Secretary for his favourable response.
