Port Blair, May 23: The Secretary IP&T, Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh today said that from tomorrow complete lockdown will be there in South Andaman District and urged public to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour even during lockdown days.
While addressing a COVID-19 Media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Secretary of IP&T said that from tomorrow as per modalities and protocols, shops will remain open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM in the morning, some officers are also appointed for keeping an eye in their concerned area so that Covid Appropriate Behavior is followed by shopkeepers and public strictly. He appealed to the public and shopkeepers to follow the CAB, by properly wearing mask and following social distancing. He further pointed out that petrol pump will remain open till 1 PM in afternoon.
Talking about the COVID situation in the isles, the Secretary informed that 03 flights with 209 passengers arrived today at Port Blair Airport and during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on these passengers, none of them were found COVID-19 positive. He further said 113 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj out of which 04 were found COVID-19 positive.
The Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal, informed that 03 new COVID patients were admitted today in G.B. Pant Hospital and 03 patients were discharged. With this, the number of corona positive patients in Hospital is 97. Out of the 97 patients, 73 are on Oxygen support and 05 are on ventilator.
The Director, ANIIMS further said that today altogether 07 patients were admitted at COVID Care Centers and 16 patients got discharged and the number of patients in the COVID Care Centers is 53.
