Port Blair, May 19: The recent weather forecast indicates formation of low pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman sea around 23 May 21 and the system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm, a press release issued by Indian Coast Guard said here today.
According to the release, under it’s influence, squally weather with high wind speed and rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman sea from 21-26 May 21.
The Indian Coast Guard has shared the weather information with civil administration including fisheries authorities. The Coast Guard Stations at various locations in A & N Region, in coordination with local fisheries authorities, are sensitizing the fishing community on persisting rough seas/inclement weather at sea and urging the fishermen to refrain from moving out to sea from 20 May onwards. The Coast Guard vessels on deployment are sensitizing fishermen at sea and guiding them to return to harbour. All Coast Guard establishments and ships in A & N Region have been alerted and directed to maintain highest state of preparedness to meet any contingency.
“Further, it is requested that an advisory may be issued through your newspaper advising fishermen not to venture into sea from 20 May 21 onwards till improvement of weather.
