Port Blair, May 06: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands requesting him to relax the restrictions imposed in the Islands to give opportunity for the daily bread earners to earn something to sustain.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi in his letter has mentioned that in view of the surge in cases of COVID-19 in the Islands the Administration has imposed various restrictions which include closure of non-essential shops.
He further mentioned that it is a known fact that since beginning of the ongoing pandemic the poor are the worst sufferers. He further added that the daily bread earners which include tea vendors, barber shops, small vendors, hawkers, fishermen etc. are the ones who are the worst affected.
He added that the family of these daly bread earners completely depend on them for all their needs and with the ease in lockdown they had started earning again but the restrictions imposed again debarred them for running the business again even for their survival.
He requested the Chief Secretary to look into the matter and make suitable arrangements for the daily bread earners to earn something to sustain themselves by following all COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi had earlier also met the Chief Secretary with the issue of daily bread earners and the Chief Secretary gave the BJP State President a patient hearing and assured to look into the issue.
