Port Blair, May 06: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands had earlier met Chief Secretary and requested him to permit teachers from Southern Group of Islands to leave their stations and arrange for their transportation to Port Blair.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi has also written a letter to the Chief Secretary in this regard. In his letter Mr. Ajoy Bairagi has mentioned to the Chief Secretary that Sumer Vacations of the schools have been announced recently and teachers and related staffs numbered approximately 120 are stuck in various Islands of Nicobar Group including Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Hut Bay, Katchal etc. without any transport medium to reach their homes.
He further mentioned that the pandemic era has brought a lot of hardships for everyone and these teachers have worked tirelessly throughout, away from their homes and family providing selfless service.
He further requested the Chief Secretary to look into the issue and provide necessary permission to the teachers to leave their station and schedule a ship for them to reach their hometown.
