Port Blair, Apr 27: On credible information, a raiding team was constituted comprising with SI Anik Das, SHO PS Humfrygunj, ASI Amit Kumar, HC/762 Abdul Bashir, PC/1102 Shanker Aind, PC/2647 Aurangzeb Ahmed, PC/2915 Sabraj Mohd and PC(D)/3042 Periyaswamy to apprehend wildlife poachers. As per details the poachers camouflaged themselves at Guptapara fishing landing centre from 2030 hrs onward. At about 0030 Hrs of 27/04/21, they noticed that an engine dinghy was entering in the fish landing centre. When the dinghy IND AN SA MO 1073 reached the jetty, the raid was conducted and the raiding team recovered 04 gunny bags consisting 72 Kgs venison, 01 gunny bag consisting 22 kgs turtle meat.
Three accused Mr. Sanyasi Sutra S/o- Late Biswanath Sutra (34) yrs, Fisherman, R/o-Guptapara, Mr. Pradeep S/o- Late Desai (28) yrs, fisherman R/o- Guptapara and Mr. Sanjay Das S/o- Shri Dhiren Das (35) yrs, fisherman, R/o- Joda kalan, Garacharma were arrested
As the following persons were found for violating the night curfew, hence as per relevant penal provision an FIR against them has been registered at PS Humfrygunj which is under investigation. Later, the wildlife protected products were handed over to the forest officials of Wandoor forest range for further action.
