Port Blair, Apr 27: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to issue necessary directions to the concerned nodal departments for daily supply of water instead of alternative day in view of increase of water level at Dhanikhari Dam and also rain fall has been started.
He said that presently water is being supplied in alternative day (once in two days) owing to depletion of water level at Dhanikhari Dam, Nayasahar due to which the peoples residing in and around the Port Blair area are facing acute water crisis problems for their daily use. However, since the water level in Dhanikhari Dam at Nayasahar has increased to the extent of 59.7 m as of now and in view of starts of rainfall, water crises problems may not happen to supply the water daily.
