Port Blair, Apr 25: Ten people have been arrested for allegedly fishing close to North Sentinel Island by PS Humfrigunj last Wednesday.
According to details, these ten fishermen among which five hail from Odisha, three from Kanyakumari and two from Andaman and Nicobar Islands were fishing from a trawler, namely ‘KAYAL’ when they came close to North Sentinel Island on 17 April 2021 night. The information was provided to police in this regard by Coast Guard vessel.
After proper investigation, on 21 April 2021 all the fishermen were arrested by PS Humfrigunj and the trawler was seized. Later all the ten fishermen were released on bail.
