Port Blair, Mar 28: Recently an order was issued (Order number 731 dated 17/03/2021) by the A&N administration superseding earlier order re-delegating powers to administrative authorities to control sanction leaves duty-cum-tours for govt. officials working under the administration.
But this move of Administration has now has pushed more than 2000 teacher’s (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted officers) working scattered from Campbell Bay to Diglipur into unprecedented difficulties.
Pointing out this genuine problem of teachers, Mr. Y Sanjeevan, President of Andaman and Nicobar Teachers’ Association has now written a letter to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In his letter Mr. Sanjeevan has pointed out that while the order has put a constraint on the frequent unnecessary movements of few bureaucrats and senior officers of the administration under the garb of duty-cum-tour to mainland, to a great extent, it has inadvertently brought thousands of teachers under its clutches to the extent that even for availing one day casual leave, a teacher has to wait for weeks together for its sanction from the Director Of Education.
“Regretfully the officers of the Education Department failed to apprise Your Excellency of the impracticability of the order on teachers numbering more than two thousand posted in far flung areas of the UT,” he added.
The President of ANTA requested the LG to intervene in this matter to review order no 731 dated 17/03/2021 for appropriate amendment decentralising the powers for the sanction/ regularisation of leaves to teachers.
