Port Blair, Mar 26: A cargo mini truck (407) today plunged into the sea from Dundas Point Jetty at around 12.30 PM this afternoon.
As per information received here, the mini cargo truck loaded with Ice Bars from Dundas Point Ice Plant came to Dundas Point Jetty to supply ice to fishing dinghies.
For some unknown reasons, the driver of the truck failed to control the truck and while going reverse, he took the truck beyond the jetty’s edge, which caused this accident.
The driver however, jumped off the truck at right time to save himself but the truck fell on a fishing dinghy which was berthed right under the jetty for collecting crushed ice pieces from the truck.
According to reports, both dinghy and the truck sank immediately into the sea but luckily no one was injured in this accident. The dinghy operator was not in the dinghy when the accident took place.
Immediately Marine Police Force and staff of PS Ograbraj reached at the spot and around 4:30 PM both the Dinghy and the Truck were salvaged by police team. Coast Guard team also reportedly reached near the site to oversee the situation.
