Car Nicobar, Mar 26: Severe crisis of fuel have been reported from Car Nicobar Islands where the lone petrol pump has gone completely dry and no petrol is being issued to public since last four days.
Earlier this week people in panic could be seen standing in several KM long queue to fill fuel in their vehicle but now the supply has been stopped completely.
According to inputs, there is only a minimum quantity of fuel left in Car Nicobar Islands that too for emergency purpose while government departments have their own stock of diesel available.
When contacted, a senior staff of EHL told Andaman Sheekha Daily, that the crisis happened because the cargo ship, which was supposed to bring fuel at Car Nicobar Island, was sailing for other remote Islands of Nicobar District to supply LPG cylinders.
“We are already ready to load around 225 barrels of petrol and 225 barrels of diesel in MV Ibrahim Ali Hussain Cargo Ship on Sunday and the vessel is about to sail for Car Nicobar on Monday evening and it is expected to reach Car Nicobar next day and probably from Tuesday normal supply of fuel will begin.
However Islanders allege that since last two months the amount of fuel being brought to Car Nicobar via cargo vessel is not sufficient and hence such long queue for fuel is not new.
