Students of MGGC highlight their problems infront of new Principal

Port Blair, Oct 18: Students of Mahatma Gandhi Government College highlighted their problems infront of the newly joined principal Dr R.N. Rath, during a formal get together organized at the College this morning.
Students told Dr. Rath that they have not been provided with newspapers, magazines to read in college library. They pointed out that the college lacks water purifies while desk and benches are in dilapidated condition.
Later talking to students, the new Principal of MGGC, Dr. R.N. Rath appreciated students for highlighting their problems and assured students that he would take early steps to address these problems and urged them to be punctual and focus on studies.
Meanwhile talking to Andaman Sheekha Dr Rath told that his first priority will be to keep the college campus clean and to provide safe drinking water as well as uninterrupted power supply in the college hostels. He said that he would also focus on improving the communication system of the college, like telephone and internet.
Regarding shortage of lecturers he said that “Yes there is a shortage of lecturers but as per the UGC university
specific effort, in case of unavailability of local staff for contract and Guest lecturers, the option we can take is to recruit lecturers
from mainland.”
He also appreciated the Administration for playing an pro-active role in providing all necessary basic infrastructure for local colleges and taking every possible step to raise the level of education in these Islands.
