Port Blair, Feb 26:With a view to educate the adolescent girls about importance of maintaining of personal health and hygiene an awareness programme was conducted by CWC (South Andaman) on 20th Feb. 2021 at Pranab Kanya Sangh AIR Road. Port Blair. Addressing the inmates of the Children Home the Member Child Welfare Committee Dr. Nazma Siddiqui said that ignorance during period might lead to serious consequences if personal hygiene is not maintained properly. Dr. Siddiqui appraised them about the correct steps/procedure of keeping each and every organ clean such as oral health care, toilet hygiene, hair care, ears, eyes and menstrual hygiene management and waste disposal. She also laid stress on taking balance diet and exercise for keeping physically and mentally fit. The chairperson in her address urged the girls not to be shy/ introvert and contact doctors in case of health problems as chronic problems during teen years can often make physical and emotional development more complicated. The In-charge thanked the committee for arranging the programme and requested to arrange such programmes in future too. More than 30 girls (inmates) attended the programme. At the end an interactive session was also held in which the girls put up their doubts on health issues which were cleared by the committee.
