Port Blair, Feb 21: Andaman Sheekha Daily has learnt from reliable sources that the Election Commissioner of India and his team might visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands during first week of March 2021.
It is expected that the Election Commissioner of India might meet with local political leaders and also local officials of Andaman and Nicobar Administration at Port Blair during his visit and discuss about local elections and COVID-19 situation.
When contacted a senior officer of A & N Administration told Andaman Sheekha that the visit is “general” and not related to Andaman’s local body elections.
However, he mentioned that the decision related to conduct of Panchayat and Municipal election will be taken after his visit.
“Presently revision of electoral roll is going on and decision regarding elections will be taken after that,” he added.
