Port Blair, Oct 17: The Bhartiya Janta Party today came to the rescue of encroachers at Shadipur Junction and averted eviction process. Furious BJP leaders told Andaman Sheekha that these people are staying in the area from past 6-7 years and they are also having pipeline connections.
“These people have already taken stay from the court but the revenue department is intentionally targeting only these 3-4 families,” Mrs Sheela Singh a senior BJP leader told Andaman Sheekha.
Later a delegation of BJP headed by the President of BJP Mr R Mohan approached the Deputy Commissioner Senior Divisional Magistrate and requested him to stop the eviction drive. To which the SDM personally visited the area at 1pm. It is learnt that tomorrow there will again be a meeting at DC office in this regard.
