
Port Blair, Feb 14: The second phase of the COVID19 vaccination started in Andaman and Nicobar Islands yesterday with vaccination of the Frontline Workers in South Andaman District in Police Training School (PTS).
A total of 192 A&N Police, staffs of Jail and CISF were vaccinated till 5.00 PM, Dr. Avijit Ray, Nodal Officer, COVID-19 informed media persons yesterday.
None of recipients of the vaccine developed any untoward symptoms.
The second phase of vaccination was possible only after receiving 30,000 doses of COVISHILED vaccine from MoHFW on 11.02.2021 by Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
As per details, the vaccination of the Sanitary worker of PBMC and frontline workers of South Andaman District Administration & PRI will follow the Vaccination of Police Personnel.
“Meanwhile the vaccine consignment will be delivered to other islands by next week and the frontline workers including Police, Paramilitary, Sanitation Workers and Frontline workers under District Administration and PRI will be undertaken accordingly,” Dr. Ray added.
Further, the second dose of COVID19 vaccine is scheduled to be administered to Health Care workers with effect from today after completion of 28 days of administration of first dose.
