
Port Blair, Feb 14: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with Mr. Vishal Jolly, Former State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mr. N. K Udhaya Kumar, State President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands under the leadership of Mr. Y Satya Kumar, National Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party and Prabhari, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands met Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt. of India (Independent Charge) at New Delhi.
The visiting state delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands met the Minister with grievances of the boat operators of the Islands who have been facing several hardships.
The interaction with the Minister was very fruitful who assured to take up the issues at appropriate level and provide relief to the boat operators of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Some of the issues raised before the Minister includes (1) Grievances Related to Existing Inland Vessels Complying with the Inland Vessel Rules, 2016. (2) Grievances Related to the Port Hire Charges of Inland Vessels. (3) Grievances related to registration of Inland Vessels. (4) Grievances related to payment of Passenger Service Fee. (5) Opening up of new Islands for tourists.
The visiting State Bharatiya Janata Party Delegation also submitted a written representation to the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt. of India and to Mr. G Kishan Reddy, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Govt. of India regarding the grievances of the boat operators of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The overall meeting with the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt. of India resulted in a healthy discussion and the Minister assured all possible assistance for the boat operators of the Islands.
