Port Blair, Jan 10: A cargo dinghy reportedly carrying nearly 500 LPG Cylinders of CCS for Swaraj Dweep Island, capsized yesterday after crossing North Bay area.
According to reports, due to rough whether the injector pipe of one out of two engines, of the dinghy busted at around 11.0 AM and when the two boatmen were trying to fix the injector pipe, the dinghy reportedly tilted towards one side. According to details due to the tilt and high swell in the sea, the dinghy collapsed.
Two boatmen present on the boat, Mr. Samir, from Swaraj Dweep and Mr. Ramesh Mandal, from Baratang Island, were anyhow rescued by nearby fishermen and brought back safely to Port Blair.
It is learnt that today, to collect all the missing LPG cylinders, which drifted towards the coast of North Bay, two dinghies were sent from Port Blair.
Mr. Samir and Mr. Ramesh Mandal were also in these two dinghies to identify the exact location.
Later seven people reportedly jumped into sea to collect the LPG Cylinders. But after collecting nearly 22 cylinders, people on the dinghies found that Mr. Ramesh Mandal, who was survivor of yesterday’s, dinghy capsize accident, is missing.
After the search for Mr. Ramesh Mandal, yielded no results, the boatmen reportedly went to nearby Police Station and lodged a missing report.
