“Port Blair, Dec 21: When there is a will, there is a way” the saying rightly applies to L. Mahalakshmi, a woman deserted by her husband, who is single-handedly raising her 11 year old daughter.
With no one to depend on for livelihood and no source of income, She decided to do what she was best at . She started a small snacks and savory making unit within her home. It has been 10yrs now and she has not turned back.
Starting on very low scale, gradually the demand for her products increased. At present , she even supplies snacks and savories to the leading bakeries in Port Blair besides whole sales business. She requires financial assistance to pay for raw materials and extra manpower to supply as per the increased demand.
She heard about the micro-credit loan under Self Employment Programme of DAY-NULM from one of her relatives who works with PBMC.
She applied for the individual loan at Municipal office and received Rs 1.8 lakhs as assistances. This credit facility has come as a big relief, which will enable her to produce and supply as per the demand received by her.
Mahalakshmi expresses her gratitude and satisfaction to the SEP under DAY-NULM for the loan received. Interest subvention @ 7% under the schemes makes it very beneficial and economical to pay the loan back. She now dreams of a bigger venture.
Mahalakshmi states that the micro-credit loan facility has empowered her to accomplish her dream of providing a quality education to her daughter which will make her self dependent and self reliant to live life more confidently.
