Port Blair, December 11: The president of Block Congress Committee, Rangat, North and Middle Andaman demanded Ferry Service between Port Blair and Rangat via Swaraj Dweep, Saheed Dweep, Long Island and Strait Island.
In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor of A&N Islands, the president of Block Congress Committee said that since last more than five months no ship of ferry has been scheduled for residents of Rangat region from Port Blair.
He said that only one bus is scheduled for Rangat, which is not regular and also runs with limited persons.
“It is also experienced that so many needy persons could not avail the basic opportunities just because there are lack of ships for Rangat. Unfortunately due to non availability of sufficient transportation, the students expecting admission counseling and patients are suffering the most because they have to hire light vehicle to go to Port Blair” he said.
He further pointed out that in this situation Diglipur and Mayabunder were provided with the ship very recently but for Rangat no ships were scheduled.
