Port Blair, Dec 07: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee observed 100th year of the formation of the Communist Party of India by raising party flag by the Party Secretary K.G. Das at 1.00 a.m. on 6th December, 2020 (Sunday) in Party Office premises and floral tributes were paid at Martyr’s columns.
Thereafter, a Seminar was held on the formation of Communist Party and its achievements. Main speakers were Com. B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, Com. Gouranga Majhi, General Secretary, All India Kisan Sabha, Com. D. Laxman Rao, Sectt. Member of the Party, Com. P. Banerjee, State Organising Committee Member and Com. NKP Nair, Trade Union Leader. They highlighted the struggles of trade unions, peasantry, employees Women, Youths, Students and subsequent formation of Mass Organisations viz AlTUC, All India Kisan Sabha, All India Democratic Womens Association, Democratic Youth Federation of India Student Federation of India were formed after the establishment of Communist Party and main object was to strengthen India freedom movement and establishment of Socialism in the country.
Many cultural organiations and writers also contributed a lot in the growth of the party and raising political consciousness of India Masses. Royal India Navy mutiny in Feb 1946 Telangana People’s Revolt (1946-1951), Tebhaga struggles (1938-1949) led by ALKS in West Bengal, Punnapra Vayalar Struggle ), Kerala, Tripura Tribals struggles’ against cruel rule and exploitation of tribal by the then Maharaja, Revolt of Warlis Adivasis in Maharashtra (1945-47) against in human exploitation, Surma Velly (1936-46) struggles then in Assam against oppression and exploitation of landlords, they added.
In these struggles many communist fighters laid down their lives. The party always remained steadfast in co-operation with the Congress led main stream, which was main force in the national movement under the leadership of Gandhi, they added.
