
Port Blair, Oct 18: The Commissioner-cum-Secretary (CA/Health) Shri V. Candavelou IAS, alongwith Shri Suneel Anchipaka IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA) visited Swarajdweep and inspected the Primary Health Centre and the proposed site for water aerodrome.
The team examined the proposed terminal for the aerodrome and the suitability of the approach road which is proposed for the same. DFO, Swarajdweep, Police personnel and local revenue staff accompanied the team. Once completed this project would become an added attraction to the tourism industry in Andaman, since Swarajdweep is the one of the most sought out tourist destinations in India.
Further, in order to review the COVID situation in Swarajdweep the team visited the Primary Health Centre at Swarajdweep and took stock of the preparedness of the Centre and also assessed the requirement of medicines, equipment and additional para medics in case of any necessity. The team also reviewed the field level surveillance of ILI/SARI and co-morbid persons and the follow up mechanisms. The Commr.-cum-Secretary (Health) expressed his happiness over the preparedness and overall conditions at PHC, Swarajdweep.
The team also interacted with the community representatives and assured them of all assistance and support from Administration. In view of the ensuing Durga Puja it was requested by the team to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols and SOPs issued by the Administration and the community representatives assured all cooperation in this regard.
