Port Blair, October 13: Amidst growing demands for ships for Little Andaman and other Islands in the Nicobar District by the stranded people, the District Commissioner South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka today clarified that the demand cannot be fulfilled at once due to the inclement weather.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka said that till the weather is rough, no ships will be sailing inter-islands. However, he assured that once the weather is clear, the ship scheduled to inter-islands will be planned.
“For Campbell Bay we had planned a ship but we could not send ship due to inclement weather,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
Yesterday, the Pradhan, Hut Bay Gram Panchayat, and today the Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands also demanded the administration to schedule ships to the Little Andaman Islands looking at the growing demands of the public.
Corona and cyclonic weather seems to have become a major challenge for District Administration to schedule a ship for various Islands.
